Scribbles & Giggles 

Scribbles & Giggles is a fun and engaging camp that is designed to help your little one prepare for school in the fall using a multisensory approach. Campers will use strategies from the Learning Without Tears program which incorporates music, movement, singing, and manipulatives to develop gross motor and fine motor skills. These age-appropriate activities will teach your child how to form the letters of the alphabet correctly while also making writing fun!

Discovery GO!  

Do you love being outdoors? Are you ready to get out there and go?  Then this is the camp for you!  Campers will add to their understanding of natural systems through nature hikes, stream exploration, and bird and insect watching.  Crafts, and other hands-on activities happen every day at our Discovery Go! Radical Readers 

Radical Readers will enjoy multisensory activities that incorporate strategies from the Orton-Gillingham Approach. Campers will build their knowledge of letter sounds and blends to develop decoding and fluency skills. Daily word work will build skills in phonemic awareness, phonics, spelling, and handwriting.

Community Helpers  

Campers will learn about various community leaders and the characteristics and traits of good citizens. Our focus will be to encourage campers to understand and appreciate the contributions and importance of our community leaders and to recognize their personal sense of belonging and responsibility in making our community a better place. We will learn about ways to be a positive leader and kind citizen at every age! Campers will have the added advantage of learning about the various career fields in our community. Each day will be filled with stories, art, crafts, and visitors from our community!

Sun and Sand Volleyball  

The camp will include instruction/drills each day. Players will be introduced to the rules and fundamentals of the sport. We will be utilizing the sand volleyball courts to introduce beach volleyball to some and focus on refining skills to others. The benefit of beach volleyball is that it helps players develop every aspect of their game, as well as great conditioning.  

Team play will consist of mini games that allow athletes to play with a mix of partners of varied experience and skill sets to improve their own game and leadership/teammate skills. 

Roger Poythress is the director of Lake Country Volleyball Club in South Hill, Virginia, and has coached a very successful volleyball program at Brunswick Academy for many years. He is a veteran of over 25 years in the sport and his knowledge and coaching skills bring a lot to the camp. Jamey Morris coached and led the Fuqua School varsity volleyball team to The VISAA Division IV State Championship where they won the state title. Also, we are excited to announce that we have added assistant coaches to help provide 1 on 1 instruction.

Kid's Baking Championship

Campers will gain first-hand knowledge about the world of baking! This camp is designed to connect children to the joys of baking, while emphasizing the importance of presentation, taste, and creativity. Children will learn important baking techniques and tricks, create many tasty desserts to bring home and sample during camp. Will you be the next Kids Baking Champion?  Space is limited. Community Service Sampler 

J.B. Fuqua once said, "I am my brother’s keeper, and I don’t think I’m doing my share in life unless I’m doing my share for my brother."  Part of being a good citizen and Fuqua Falcon is contributing to community. During this week of service, we will spend time with local organizations that impact our community. Each day we will travel locally to complete various projects at places such as the Woodland, fire department, FACES, local churches, Habitat ReStore, or Better Days Farmville. The hours worked can be applied to Fuqua School required community service credit.

Equine Science 

This is a NON-RIDING horse camp will take place a White Bird Appaloosa Horse Rescue in Amelia.  Campers will learn equine anatomy, history, stable management, and first aid. Students will enjoy competitions including an in-hand show! This camp is perfect for students considering starting lessons, and current horse owners looking for more knowledge. 

Transportation to and from White Bird Appaloosa Horse Rescue will be provided.

Let's Get Moving

This camp promotes healthy living and wellbeing by teaching the benefits of having an active mind and body. Each day we will explore fun games like gaga ball, basketball, soccer, yoga, dance, and brain activities like puzzles and board games. Students will make and eat a healthy snack daily and learn the importance of fueling their bodies with quality foods all while having fun.

Grand Slam Softball  

Fuqua's Softball Camp focuses on further development of skills with a game on the last day. The coaches will give each camper individualized attention and drills so they can continue to improve at home. Each day of camp will include practice pitching, catching, fielding, and hitting, followed by the opportunity to apply these skills in a daily game. Each camper will leave camp as a better softball player focusing on the game's fundamentals.

Celebrate All Things Swift - Eras Tour Camp

Come sing & dance to your favorite Taylor Swift songs! Campers are invited to dress in their favorite Taylor-inspired outfits each day and be ready for fun. We will focus on character development while listening to some of your favorite songs from Taylor as well as create bracelets, necklaces and other crafts! Be prepared to dig into true Taylor Swift fashion with nail art, makeup and glitter! Making Writing Fun

Lego Life  

Campers will follow model plans designed by engineers and architects as they build with LEGO® bricks. The LEGO® project kits offered will give campers the opportunity to learn STEAM-based principles through fun and educational play. These camps will help children improve fine motor skills, build self-esteem, and learn important classroom lessons such as organization and following directions. Campers will also have the opportunity to explore their imaginations through free play.

Garden and Grow  

Students will cultivate their own herb gardens, gaining insight into plant growth and the art of growing their own food! Through this experience, we'll dive into the importance of nourishing our bodies with healthy eating habits, crafting vibrant rainbow plates with vegetables freshly harvested from our school garden. Additionally, we'll explore the therapeutic benefits of connecting with nature to regulate our emotions.

We’ve Got Spirit - Cheer Camp

Do you have spirit? Let’s hear it! Catch the spirit of cheerleading as you join The Fuqua School cheerleaders and coaches for a week of fun. Campers will not only learn cheers and dances, but will also work on the fundamentals of cheerleading, including basic motions, and jumps. Campers will showcase what they learn when they perform a mini routine for parents and guests at week’s end.

Oh Snap! Photography  

Oh Snap! In our Photography Camp, we will cover the different functions of your camera, and how they affect an image. We will also learn about the exposure triangle, white balance, and developing a creative eye. Most importantly, we will CREATE! Each day we will discuss an aspect of photography, then apply it in the field, finalizing in a day of creation, putting everything together. Digging Dinosaurs

Melody Magic 

Beginning music students will experiment with different instruments to try a variety of music styles. In-class use of piano, ukulele, and percussion are included in this camp. Have you recently been on a trip that you want to remember for years to come?  Maybe you want to collect your memories from last school year?  This is the camp where you can create a scrapbook documenting these important moments. Campers will learn how to display memories in a way that is visually pleasing and fun to create! I Survived... The Civil War  

What was life like for a Civil War soldier?  Travel back in time to enlist with the North or the South. Campers will experience camp life, food, travel, and battles. Cooking with Science 

Campers will create delicious snacks using science and math. Math skills such as measuring, proportions, ratios, and fractions will be used all week while learning the science behind tempering, gelatins, and the states of matter that create some of our favorite desserts.
