2023 Fuqua School Summer Camps – Summer Quest

JUNE 5-8
Let's Get Moving Camp
This camp promotes healthy living and wellbeing by teaching the benefits of being active. Each day we will explore fun games like tag, basketball, soccer, yoga, dance, and also brain activities such as puzzles and board games. Students will make and eat a healthy snack daily and learn the importance of fueling their bodies all while having fun.

On Two Wheels Biking Camp
Join us for an extra-fun, week-long extravaganza of off-campus biking trips. Students will meet at Fuqua School each morning and head off for local biking adventures. Campers must provide their own hybrid or mountain bike and helmet.

Tailgates and Touchdowns Football Camp
Campers will have fun learning the technical, physical, and strategic skills of football in an appropriate way based on all skill levels. Players will work on drills, scrimmages, and full games. Whether new to the sport or an experienced player, campers will leave as better players.

Kid's Baking Championship Camp
Campers will gain first-hand knowledge about the world of baking! This camp is designed to connect children to the joys of baking, while emphasizing the importance of presentation, taste, and creativity. Children will learn important baking techniques and tricks, create many tasty desserts to bring home and sample during camp. Will you be the next Kids Baking Champion? Space is limited. Cost $150 (The extra fee is for baking supplies.)

JUNE 12-15
Color Your Summer Art Camp
Come create mixed media artworks, build small-scale sculptures and crafts using unconventional materials as we explore creative ways to discover more about yourself and find your authentic voice through art! Students will work on several projects using different mediums and techniques. Let’s take artistic leaps, think differently, make bold choices, learn new skills, and have a lot of fun!

Into the Woods Nature Camp
Campers will get out and explore the natural world. Take a walk on the nature trail, track and identify organisms, create nature inspired crafts, and more. Creativity and the love of nature make this camp a blast for all our intrepid junior explorers.

Summer Sports Camp
Summer Sports is for campers who love sports, games, and fitness activities! Campers will participate in a medley of sports which may include basketball, soccer, baseball, kickball, dodgeball, tennis, bowling, and Frisbee. Campers will be divided by age group.

JUNE 13-15
Introduction to Beach Volleyball
The camp will include instruction and drills each day. Players will be introduced to the rules and fundamentals of the sport. Team play will consist of mini games that allow athletes to play with a mix of partners of varied experience and skill sets to improve their own game and leadership along with teammate skills.
Time: 6:00pm - 8:30pm Cost: $100 per player

Beach Volleyball Intermediate/Advanced
This camp is for beginner, intermediate and advanced players. There will be an intro to beach volleyball rules and strategies. Next, instruction will be given to help develop techniques to improve serving, passing, hitting and defensive skills. Skill levels for each camper will be assessed and teams (depending on the number of participants) will be chosen to play each
other in a 2's or 4's style format.
Time: 6:00pm - 9:00pm Cost: $120 per player

JUNE 19-22
Lego Camp
Campers will follow model plans designed by engineers and architects as they build with LEGO® bricks. This camp will help children improve fine motor skills, build self-esteem, and learn important classroom lessons such as organization and following directions. Campers will also have the opportunity to explore their imaginations through free play.

Storybook Camp
Join us for storybook camp! We’ll dive into various children’s books with the goal of promoting a love for reading and expanding literacy skills. Our adventures in reading will enable campers to build vocabulary and enhance expressive and receptive language skills as well as make real life connections with themes and characters. Our time will be filled with arts and crafts, activities, and fun! Campers will also have the opportunity to share his or her favorite storybook/character with the group.

Jr. Grand Slam Softball Camp
Fuqua's Jr. Softball Camp focuses on fundamentals and skill development with an exciting game each day. The coaches will give each camper individualized attention and drills so they can continue to improve at home. Each day of camp will include practice throwing, fielding, and hitting, followed by the opportunity to apply new and improved skills in a daily game. Each camper will leave camp as a better softball player with a focus on the fundamentals of the game.

JUNE 26-29
We've Got Spirit Cheer Camp
Do you have spirit? Let’s hear it! Catch the spirit of cheerleading as you join The Fuqua School cheerleaders and coaches for a week of fun. Campers will not only learn cheers and dances, but will also work on the fundamentals of cheerleading, including basic motions, and jumps. Campers will showcase what they learn when they perform a mini routine for parents and guests at week’s end.

Fuqua Goes Hollywood
This is a camp focused on learning more about movies and how they are made. Campers will discuss their favorite movies in a podcast for parents and families to listen to. Other projects will consist of a Madlib styled script writing activity, making a movie trailer, putting on a short scene from a movie or TV show and throwing a Fuqua Oscars award to celebrate all the campers’ favorite movies.

Grand Slam Softball Camp
Fuqua's Softball Camp focuses on further development of skills. The coaches will give each camper individualized attention and drills so they can continue to improve at home. Each day of camp will include practice pitching, catching, fielding, and hitting, followed by the opportunity to apply these skills in a daily game. Each camper will leave camp as a better softball player with a focus on the fundamentals of the game.

History Alive
Come be a part of American History by taking an active role in four different time periods. Become a sailor during European Exploration, a soldier in the American Revolution and the American Civil War and travel the Oregon Trail as a Pioneer. Participants will make daring decisions and experience the consequences of their decisions as individuals and in groups, while also making a daily craft to enhance their experience.

Kids American Sign Language Camp
Come learn a different way to communicate by combining fun, interactive activities with daily lessons to help build a foundation and basic understanding of American Sign Language (ASL).

JULY 10-13
Community Helpers Camp
Campers will learn about various community
helpers and the characteristics and traits of citizen
leaders. Our focus will be to encourage campers to
understand and appreciate the contributions and
importance of our community helpers as well as to
recognize their personal sense of belonging and
responsibility in making our community a better
place. We will learn about ways to be a positive
leader and kind citizen at every age! Campers will
have the added advantage of learning about the
various career fields of our community helpers.
Lots of activities, art, and fun will fill our time
together!

Digital Art
This is art and design camp focused on digital arts through programs such as Canva. Design doesn't always start on the computer though, so some "regular" art will be included too.
Campers will learn about colors theory and basic design principles. Projects will include designing a Fuqua T-Shirt design, a movie poster, a book cover, remaking a logo, a photography scavenger hunt, and ending the week with a gallery day.
